Highest Ranking Ohio State Alumnus in U.S. Army returns home to commission future officers

Columbus, Ohio – Media are invited to the 2016 2nd Lieutenant Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Commissioning Ceremony and a pre-commissioning news conference with the highest ranking active duty Ohio State alumnus, U.S. Army officer Lt. Gen. Mike Murray.

Murray will be the keynote speaker for the commissioning ceremony and will commission 25 Army ROTC cadets.

Murray grew up in Kenton, graduated from Ohio State and spent 35 years serving our nation as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army. He is currently serving as the U.S. Army deputy chief of staff, G-8, which is responsible for programming, analysis and materiel integration. His work is central to transforming and rebuilding the Army's strategic readiness.

Murray will be available to speak with reporters at 2 p.m. on May 7 at Converse Hall.

The commissioning ceremony begins at 3 p.m. at Remembrance Park outside Converse Hall.
