MEDIA ADVISORY: Ohio State First-Year Students Receive Official Columbus Welcome at Nationwide Arena

WHO: Joseph Alutto, interim president, The Ohio State University; Michael B. Coleman, mayor,city of Columbus; Alex Fischer, president and CEO, the Columbus Partnership; and Brian Ross, president and CEO,Experience Columbus.

WHAT: Press conference to discuss the Columbus Welcome Event.

WHEN: 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19.

WHERE: Nationwide Arena, 200 W. Nationwide Blvd., Columbus Blue Jackets Press Conference Room, Room 14, Arena Floor.

Parking for media is available in the attached Arena Garage. The media entrance will be located at the arena loading dock. Credential will be provided upon check-in.

A press conference highlighting the planning and strategy for the Columbus Welcome Event will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19 at Nationwide Arena, 200 W. Nationwide Blvd., Columbus Blue Jackets Press Conference Room, Room 14, on the arena floor level.

The Columbus Welcome Event will officially start at 1 p.m. It is a high-energy, multi-media program designed to welcome Ohio State University first-year students to the city of Columbus on their first full-day on campus. Ohio State student leaders will guide the program which will include live speakers, video messages and presentations from alumni and business and community leaders, all encouraging students to embrace Columbus’ unique offerings and opportunities for jobs, volunteerism, internships, dining, culture and entertainment.

Participants will include Alutto, Jeni Britton Bauer, founder, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream; Yvette McGee Brown, partner, Jones Day; Mayor Coleman; Aaron Craft and Sam Thomson, members, Ohio State men’s basketball team, and Thad Matta, Ohio State men’s basketball head coach.
