Ohio State basketball programs celebrate seniors

Ceremonies held to honor leaders on women’s and men’s teams

Buckeye fans turned out in full force for some of the final home games of the season to support women’s and men’s basketball. Both programs celebrated their senior players who may have played their final games for The Ohio State University.

The Big Ten Champions women’s team recognized their veterans at the Feb. 25 game against Maryland.

Forwards Taiyier Parks, Eboni Walker, Karla Vres and Rebeka Mikulášiková joined guards Celeste Taylor, Rikki Harris and Jacy Sheldon at center court as they were honored by family, friends and fans. Ohio State secured the top seed in the Big Ten Tournament with a 79-66 win over the Terrapins.

The Buckeyes face No. 8 Maryland today at 12:30 p.m.

The men’s team celebrated senior day by defeating archrivals Michigan 84-61 on March 3 at Value City Arena, the third consecutive win as the Buckeyes advanced to 18-12 overall and 8-11 in the Big Ten Conference.

The program honored eight seniors before the game. The four student-athletes were Jamison Battle, Dale Bonner, Zed Key and Owen Spencer. The four managers were David Cantor, Anthony Moyer, Dylan Parker and Christian Perry.

The men’s team finishes the regular season Sunday on the road against Rutgers.
