Ohio State students celebrate successful dance marathon

Hundreds of students from The Ohio State University filled rooms at the Ohio Union over the weekend with music and dancing to help fight critical pediatric illnesses.
The annual BuckeyeThon dance marathon raised over $853,000 to support research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Since 2002, the program has raised $15.1 million.
BuckeyeThon raises funds and awareness for the Hematology, Oncology & Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital to end pediatric cancer and blood disorders.
“BuckeyeThon’s commitment to philanthropy and kids’ health goes a long way in our efforts to create a caring Ohio State community,” said Félix Alonso, director of student philanthropy in the Office of Student Life.
It is the largest student-run philanthropy in the state of Ohio, and the dance marathon is the culmination of a year-long fundraising campaign that ends with a 12-hour celebration.
The celebration featured multiple DJs, the Ohio State Drumline and Brutus energizing the crowd. BuckeyeThon participants also saw the impact of their charity as children aided by the cancer research joined in the marathon.
BuckeyeThon is the work of over 150 undergraduate students serving across 13 committees.
