Statement from William A. Baeslack III, Dean of the College of Engineering

“The University is continuing its assessment of various aspects of the Airport development project. This assessment has included a more detailed analysis of noise impacts, which has taken longer than expected because of requirements to obtain necessary information from Port Columbus Airport. We now have that information, and our analysis is near completion.

“Based on the outcome of this analysis, and in combination with the additional assessment we have performed in recent months, the College will develop an updated plan for moving forward. That plan will be reviewed by University administration and then presented to a Board of Trustees committee, no earlier than June. Following the Board update, we would schedule a similar meeting where the public could review and comment on our revised timeline and plan for moving forward. This public presentation would occur well in advance of any submission of a second draft of the Environmental Assessment (EA) to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).”
