Ten High School seniors from central Ohio among those to receive full scholarships at Ohio State

Ten high school seniors from central Ohio will gather at The Ohio State University campus for the first time on Sunday afternoon (5/21) to celebrate receiving a full scholarship to university as part of its Land Grant Opportunity Scholarship program. They will join more than 100 Ohio students who have been selected to receive the special scholarships, which provide opportunities for low-income high school students to obtain a college degree.

The Land Grant Opportunity Scholarships program, in its second year, provides full scholarships, worth up to $17,000 per year, to at least one student from each of Ohio's 88 counties.

The scholars will visit campus from noon to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road. During the event, they'll learn more about their future alma mater from President Karen A. Holbrook and other university officials, eat lunch, and meet with current Land Grant scholars.

Recipients of the scholarship include ten from central Ohio: three from Columbus, one from Hilliard, two from Dublin, one from Reynoldsburg, one from Lancaster, Marysville and one from Ostrander.

Ohio State has committed nearly $1.5 million this year on the Land Grant Opportunity Scholarships, so named because of Ohio State's status as a land-grant university and its mission to make sure Ohio State remains affordable for all outstanding applicants.
