315 exit ramp to open this week as Cannon Drive project moves forward

Drivers heading to The Ohio State University will have some more options this week.

The northbound State Route 315 exit ramp to Medical Center Drive/King Avenue is expected to reopen Aug. 15. Part of the new Cannon Drive, between King Avenue and the exit ramp, will also reopen the same day.

The exit ramp has been closed since May. The on-ramp to southbound State Route 315 at Cannon Drive and 12th Avenue was shut down a month later to expedite construction for the new Cannon Drive. That ramp will open in late November.

Work on Cannon Drive near the Wexner Medical Center will continue through 2019. Vehicular traffic will continue to access North Cannon Garage via 10th Avenue to old Cannon Drive.

Additional information will be shared in advance to inform motorists when access to the garage resumes via 12th Avenue.

The project is part of Ohio State’s Framework 2.0 master plan. The new Cannon Drive will help provide flood protection, create 12 acres of developable land and a north-south connection between King and Lane Avenues, and will add green space in the Olentangy River corridor.
