Video: Fantasy and fairy tales inspire Ohio State Marching Band halftime show

TBDBITL uses music and magic to entertain Ohio Stadium

The Ohio State University Marching Band turned to dragons, damsels in distress and knights in shining armor for the halftime show during the game against Nebraska.

The theme of this week’s show was Happily Ever After.

As part of an annual tradition, the halftime show faced the east end of the stadium for the first time this season. The band marched in formations like a big, bad wolf huffing and puffing to blow a house down. A knight in shining scarlet and gray climbed up a princess’s hair as the band played music from the movie “Tangled.”

One of the band’s drills featured a princess’s kiss transforming a frog into a prince as they played Randy Newman’s “Friends on the Other Side” from “The Princess and the Frog.” And in a nod to more modern fantasy, the marching band played their version of the theme song to the popular HBO series “Game of Thrones.”

Lindsay Hostetler, from West Liberty, Ohio, dotted the ‘i’ this week. Hostetler is a geographic information systems graduate who joined the marching band from West Liberty-Salem High School.
