Video: Ohio State Marching Band honors the memory of Martin Luther King Jr.

50 years after the death of MLK, TBDBITL pays tribute to the civil rights icon

The Ohio State University Marching Band used the halftime show in the game against Indiana to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

King was assassinated in April 1968 and just days later the Civil Rights Act was signed into law.

The marching band spelled out “Free at Last” and “1968” and recreated the Lincoln Memorial, site of the “I Have a Dream” speech. Music for the halftime show included “We Shall Overcome,” “People Got to Be Free,” and “Pride (In the Name of Love).”

Taylor Thompson, from Marysville, Ohio, dotted the ‘i’ this week. Thompson is an accounting major who graduated from Marysville High School.
